Let your inner guide lead your next beginning.
September arrives with an invitation to pause, integrate, and begin again with intention.
After an August filled with eclipses, Lion’s Gate symbolism, and big energetic themes, September offers space for integration, asking us to listen inward, tend to daily life, and bring greater honesty to our relationships.
What surfaced last month?
What still needs your attention?
What are you ready to do differently?
With The Hermit as our symbolic guide and The Magician echoing September’s numerology, we’re exploring how inner wisdom becomes meaningful action.
Below, you’ll find the month’s key transits, rising-sign themes, and practices to help you reflect and reconnect.
In this month’s update:

The Hermit Meets The Magician
As the ninth month, September offers a symbolic connection to The Hermit, Tarot’s ninth Major Arcana card: the inner guide, the seeker, the part of us willing to get quiet enough to recognize our own wisdom.
The Hermit asks us to return to ourselves, remember our individuality and sovereignty, and allow intuition to illuminate the next step, even when the whole path isn’t visible.
In universal-month numerology, September 2026 also reduces to 1:
9 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 19 → 10 → 1
One carries themes of beginnings, initiative, and possibility.
It also connects symbolically with The Magician, Tarot’s first Major Arcana card: the invitation to work intentionally with the tools already in our hands.
Together, these archetypes offer a message:
Listen inward. Then bring what you know into practice.
You don’t need every answer before you begin. You do need enough stillness to recognize which beginning belongs to you.

September’s Astrological Landscape
The month moves through practical recalibration, deeper questions about trust, and a growing desire for independent expression.
Virgo season asks us to examine the details of our lives: our routines, responsibilities, and the ways we care for ourselves and others. Libra season shifts the focus toward reciprocity. The Aries Full Moon asks whether our agreements leave enough room for individuality.
Meanwhile, Venus travels through its pre-retrograde shadow ahead of its October 3 retrograde. Relationship, money, and self-worth themes emerging now may become subjects for further reflection this fall. Venus and Mercury remain direct throughout September.
The calendar below uses Western tropical astrology and Eastern Time. It highlights major transits rather than every daily aspect. These interpretations are offered as symbolic tools for reflection, not guaranteed predictions.
Early September: Make Room for a Different Beginning
Date | Transit | Theme to work with |
September 1 | Mars square Saturn; Mercury sextile Mars | Notice where urgency meets a limit. A clear plan may help more than additional force. |
September 4 | Last-quarter Moon in Gemini | Release mental clutter. Which conversations or explanations have run their course? |
September 10 | New Moon in Virgo | Plant an intention for a more supportive daily life. Choose something small enough to practice. |
September 10 | Mercury enters Libra | Make room for dialogue, negotiation, and another perspective. |
September 10 | Venus enters Scorpio | Explore trust, intimacy, shared resources, and what emotional honesty requires. |
September 10 | Uranus stations retrograde in Gemini | Reconsider your relationship with information, technology, and constant stimulation. |
September 10 is a particularly concentrated turning point. Give yourself permission to observe before deciding what everything means.
Mid-month: Listen Beneath the Story
Date | Transit | Theme to work with |
September 12–13 | Mercury trine Pluto, opposite Neptune, then trine Uranus | Welcome insight while checking assumptions. A compelling story still deserves questions. |
September 14 | Sun sextile Mars | Put intention into motion through a practical, purposeful action. |
September 15 | Venus square Pluto; Neptune sextile Pluto | Examine power within relationships and the larger visions shaping collective change. |
September 17 | Retrograde Chiron returns to Aries | Revisit tenderness around identity, independence, and taking up space. |
September 18 | Mercury opposite Saturn; first-quarter Moon in Sagittarius | Give a big idea structure. Be honest about limits and commitments. |
September 21 | Mercury sextile Jupiter | Make room for a broader perspective and a more generous conversation. |
Mid-month invites discernment.
Where are you responding to what is actually happening, and where might fear, hope, or an old experience be filling in the blanks?
Late September: Belong Without Abandoning Yourself
Date | Transit | Theme to work with |
September 22 | Sun enters Libra; September equinox | Reflect on reciprocity and what balance requires in practice. |
September 25–26 | Sun opposite Neptune, then trine Pluto | Look beneath idealization. Let greater honesty inform your next choice. |
September 26 | Full Moon in Aries | Notice where independence and partnership need a different agreement. |
September 27 | Mars enters Leo | Give creativity, courage, and self-expression somewhere to go. |
September 28 | Sun trine Uranus | Experiment with a fresh approach. |
September 30 | Mercury enters Scorpio | Ask deeper questions and make space for meaningful conversations. |
The equinox marks autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and spring in the Southern Hemisphere: a seasonal threshold that offers a moment to pause and take stock.
What Ties It All Together?
Trust is a practice.
Venus in Scorpio and its square to Pluto invite reflection on closeness, control, and shared power. Where can honesty replace testing, guessing, or trying to manage another person’s response?
Discernment leaves room for uncertainty.
September’s Neptune contacts offer a symbolic reminder that intuition and verification can coexist. You can honor a feeling without treating your first interpretation as the whole truth.
Individuality needs room within connection.
Libra season and the Aries Full Moon bring the relationship between “I” and “we” into focus. Cooperation becomes more sustainable when people can express needs and boundaries openly.
A beginning needs somewhere to live.
The Hermit helps us hear ourselves. The Magician asks what we will do with that knowledge. Virgo’s contribution is the daily practice that makes an intention tangible.

A September Tarot Spread:
The Lantern & The First Step
Shuffle with the question: What am I ready to understand, and how can I live that understanding?
Take a deep breath. Lay out six cards:

The lantern: What is my inner guide illuminating?
The integration: What from August still needs acknowledgment?
The release: What habit, expectation, or story can I loosen?
The tools: What strength or resource is already available?
The agreement: Where do I need greater honesty or a clearer boundary?
The first step: What practical action can support this beginning?
Notice which card feels easiest to welcome and which one you want to explain away. Let curiosity lead. The cards can open a conversation with yourself; they don’t have to make your decisions.

Journal Prompts
What changed for me in August, and what am I only now beginning to understand?
Where am I seeking outside permission for something I already know matters to me?
Which routine supports me? Which one survives mostly through habit or obligation?
What does trust look like in behavior?
Where am I confusing keeping the peace with being honest?
What kind of beginning feels meaningful, even if nobody else notices it?
What is one promise to myself I can realistically keep this month?

A Simple September Ritual
Try this around the Virgo New Moon, the equinox, or whenever you have a quiet moment.
You’ll need paper, a pen, a small bowl of water, and a candle or battery-operated light.
Create a pause.
Set your phone aside, light your candle, and take a few comfortable breaths. Let yourself arrive without needing to feel any particular way.
Name what you’re carrying.
Write: “What I am still integrating…” Allow a few honest sentences to follow.
Listen for the beginning.
On a fresh section of the page, write: “What I am ready to practice…” Choose one intention that can become an action.
Give it a shape.
Decide when you’ll take that action. Keep it manageable: send the message, make space in your calendar, clear one surface, or express one need.
Mark the threshold.
Touch the water as a symbolic gesture of renewal.
Say:
I honor what I have learned.
I trust myself to keep listening.
I begin with what is here.
Keep your intention somewhere visible.
If you use a real candle, extinguish it before leaving.
If you need a new candle, our Empress candles are now in the storefront HERE.

Crystals to Accompany Your Reflection
If crystals are part of your practice, these can serve as symbolic reminders.
You don’t need to buy anything: a stone you already own or an ordinary found object can hold an intention just as meaningfully.
Smoky quartz: A reminder to return to the practical next step when reflection becomes overwhelming.
Amethyst: An invitation to quiet contemplation and listening inward.
Rose quartz: A symbol of kindness toward yourself during honest conversations.
Labradorite: A companion for exploring change, possibility, and unfamiliar perspectives.
Carnelian: A reminder of creative courage as Mars enters Leo near month’s end.
These associations are spiritual and symbolic; crystals are not established treatments for physical or mental health conditions.
September’s invitation is to make space for a beginning you can inhabit. Let your inner guide speak. Give its wisdom a place in your calendar, your conversations, and the way you care for yourself.
What is one small choice that would make your life feel more like your own?
Love,
